Geological Survey of Sweden

Sveriges Geologiska undersökning, SGU, is the Swedish name for the Swedish Geology authority. It was founded in 1858 and now has its headquarters in Uppsala. Branches are situated in Lund, Gothenburg and Malå. The HSE is also higher authority for the Swedish Mining Inspectorate ( Mountain States).

The activities of the HSE is reflected in their departments of General Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry for, hydrogeology, soil science and marine geology. You are series of cards, usually at a scale of 1:50,000 or 1:200,000 out. The series include, for example cards for Geophysics Sweden, groundwater maps, marine geological maps.

The HSE has nearly 300 employees and is assigned to the Ministry of Economy.
