Geordie

Under Geordie refers to both a member of the population of the surrounding area of Newcastle upon Tyne in northern England as well as the prevailing dialect of English. Geordie as a dialect is closer to the language of the Angles and has much less influence from the French and Latin language adopted as the southern English.

It has, like most northern English dialects in the vowels a marked similarity to the German pronunciation, so be / æ / as in "cat " and / ʌ / as in " cut" as [ a] and [ ʊ ] pronounced. Also striking is the pronunciation of "i", which is very close to a German "oi ". There are also differences in the personal pronouns: we use Geordies instead of us, youse as the plural of you, me instead of my, instead of me and us for our wor.
