Georg Breinschmid

Georg Breinschmid (born 25 April 1973 in Amstetten, Austria ) is an Austrian double bassist, composer and jazz musician.

Life and work

Breinschmid completed a classical training on the double bass at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Already during his studies he is an active entrant for short fancy musicians at various Viennese orchestras. Breinschmid also plays in various chamber music ensembles, such as the Amadeus Ensemble. From 1994 to 1996 he was a member of the Lower Austrian Tonkünstlerorchester. He then played in the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic and graduated with them numerous tours in Europe, America and Asia.

1999 leaves Breinschmid surprisingly composed the music and also the Vienna Philharmonic and henceforth devoted to jazz. He plays with the Vienna Art Orchestra and performs with the Zipflo Weinrich Group. As a result Breinschmid can be heard in numerous concerts throughout Europe with various ensembles. He plays among others, the international jazz greats Charlie Mariano, Jasper van't Hof and Archie Shepp, and with many Austrian jazz musicians, such as Harry Sokal, Thomas Gansch, Klaus Dickbauer, Sabina Hank, Christian Muthspiel and his brother Martin Breinschmid. He also performs with the Kraah trio of Christian Zehnder.

In a duo with singer Agnes Heginger 2005 will create the album Dancing, which is characterized by free improvisation and experimentation. With the violinist Benjamin Schmid and changing instrumentation (eg Biréli Lagrène Stian Carstensen ) Breinschmid be the work of Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt revive. The recordings published in 2008 Vienna Krk and Brein 's World ( 2010) remains documented Breinschmid with his own compositions close to Viennese music and Viennese songs.
