Georg Christian Crollius

Georg Christian Crollius ( born July 21, 1728 in Zweibrücken, † March 23, 1790 ) was a German historian and librarian.

The son of Zweibrücker high school rector Johann Philipp Crollius and Margaretha Gabriela Joannis studied in Halle and Göttingen and joined his father, whom he succeeded in 1767 in the direction of the Zweibrücker Herzog- Wolfgang -Gymnasium, in the teaching profession of the Principality of Pfalz- Zweibrücken. Duke Christian IV appointed him to the board of the library, the Bibliotheca Bipontina today, and the court historian. Like his father, he conducted research on the history of the Palatinate and the Rhineland Palatinate county. As a member of the Electoral Palatinate Academy of Sciences in Mannheim, Germany ( since 1765 ) he has written several essays that were printed in their publication series. His main work, the Origines Bipontinae (1761-1769) may be addressed. He also participated at the 1779 published in the publishing of the Societas Bipontina editions of Greek and Latin classics, the Editiones Bipontinae.
