Georg Ericson

Georg " Aby " Ericson ( born December 18, 1919 in Torshag; † 4 January 2002 Aby ) was a Swedish football player and coach.

Career

Club career

Ericson played in the 1940s for IFK Norrköping in Allsvenskan. With the club he won in 1943 and 1945, the Swedish league and cup double in. 1946 to 1948 he was still three-time champion.

Coaching career

Ericson 1971 successor Orvar mountain Marks as coach of the Swedish national team. These he brought to the world championships in 1974, where the second round is reached, and 1978, when the team was eliminated without a win in the first round. After failing to qualify for the European Championship in 1980, he resigned, Lars Arnesson became his successor.

In 91 international matches under his leadership, the Blågult could leave 37 times the place as the winner, 19 time there was no winner.

Others

His son Håkan is also a football coach. 2001 to 2003 he worked as an assistant and then as head coach at IFK Norrköping.
