Georg Friedrich of Hohenlohe-Neuenstein-Weikersheim

Count Georg Friedrich of Hohenlohe- New stone Weikersheim ( born September 5, 1569 New stone; † July 7, 1645 in Langenburg ) was an officer and an occasional poet. He was the son of Count Wolfgang of Hohenlohe- New stone from the House of Hohenlohe and his wife Magdalena von Nassau- Dillenburg.

Life

At seventeen, Georg Friedrich went to the University of Geneva in 1586 and studied there until 1588th He was probably the last student of Professor Franciscus Hotomanus. He then moved to France and study half later to Italy, where he enrolled in Siena and Padua.

After graduating in 1591, he fought under Henry IV against the Catholic League. In the war against the Turks in 1595 he was promoted to colonel. In 1605 he would strike down a revolt as Imperial General sergeant in Hungary.

On June 18, 1607, he married Eva von Waldstein, through which he concluded inter alia to the rule Grulich in East Bohemia. He was involved for Bohemian able Lord and thus also in the resistance against King Ferdinand II Through this marriage. As a general lieutenant colonel of the stands he was responsible for Entourage and in the Battle of White Mountain he commanded a cavalry corps.

His wife Eva died on 24 May 1631. On August 17, 1633 he married Maria Magdalena of Oettingen - Öhringen that but after less than three years of marriage on May 29, 1636, also died.

1632 Count Georg Friedrich was appointed to the Swedish governor of the Swabian circle. In accepting this position, this infuriated the emperor so that he could outlaw Count Georg Friedrich immediately. Only after the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 Weikersheim was returned to the House of Hohenlohe.

On August 7, 1645 died Count Georg Friedrich of Hohenlohe- New stone Weikersheim at the age of 76 years in Langenburg.
