Georg Klein (writer)

Georg Klein ( born March 29, 1953 in Augsburg ) is a German writer.

Career

Georg Klein studied after high school and performing his community service at the Universities of Augsburg and Munich, German, history, and sociology. 1984 published his first short stories in German literary journals. His first book publication, the spy novel Libidissi, was celebrated in 1998 as one of the best German-language books of the year and awarded the brothers Grimm Prize 1999. The jury based its decision: " The author develops [ ... ] a fantastic oriental world that beats the reader with the change of perspectives in spell and before placing ever more mystery. " Also in 1999, the volume of stories appeared invocation of the blind fish. 2000 Klein was awarded the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize. In the spring of 2001, the detective story Barbar Rosa, who seems with The sun seemed to us sin and goodness flash followed by two more novels.

In the novel, our childhood Georg Klein leaves a still dominated by postwar childhood world of the 1960s to life. On their summer rambles through fallow land and underground passages branched - the children of a newly developing areas on the outskirts of Augsburg, the unreal world meet disabled veteran tank driver. For the work he was awarded the 2010 Prize of the Leipzig Book Fair in the category Fiction.

He is a member of the PEN center of Germany.

Klein lives with his wife, writer Katrin de Vries, and two sons in the East Frisian town league.
