Georg Lankensperger
Georg Lankensperger (also: Lankensberger; born March 31, 1779 Marktl; † July 11, 1847 in Birch Stone ) was a German car manufacturer. He was granted a patent on a first pivot steering. This steering was invented, however, already in 1761 by Erasmus Darwin.
Lankensperger made his invention in 1816 as Hofwagner in Munich. It was then applied in horse-drawn carriages, Achsschenkellenkungen are still in passenger and freight cars in use.
On May 25, 1816 Georg Lankensberger received a Bavarian privilege:
" The Hofwagner Lankensberger dahier need for invention of a new servo-drive the front end, none of the so-called wheel structures Stelles, and the cars very shortened without loss of space. "
He let the steering in England patented by the publisher and entrepreneur Rudolph Ackermann, why she was there under the term " A- Steering ". The theoretically correct angle of the front wheels is called Ackermann angle.
