Georg Maurer

Georg Maurer ( born March 11, 1907 in Reghin ( Saxon rain) ( Transylvania); † August 4, 1971 in Potsdam ) was a German poet, essayist and translator. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Juventus, murus and Johann Weilau.

Life

Maurer, born on March 11, 1907 as the son of a teacher in Transylvania, in 1926 came to Germany. He studied until 1932 in Leipzig and Berlin art history, German literature and philosophy. He was a soldier in World War II. Since 1955 he was a lecturer, later professor at the Institute of Literature " Johannes R. Becher ," where he had a major influence on the authors of the Saxon school of poetry.
