Georg Miske

Georg Miske ( born April 9, 1928 in Schonwald, county Tost - Gleiwitz; † 28 January 2009 in Leipzig ) was a German weightlifter.

Career

The Upper Silesian Georg Miske, who lived after the expulsion in Leipzig, was mechanical engineer by profession. The age of twenty he began weightlifting and was the first athlete from East Germany, who managed to connect to the advanced world leader in weightlifting. As a featherweight (up to 60 kg body weight ), he outdid the German records of the two -time world champion Georg Liebsch in the press and in the Olympic triathlon. In the early 1950s George came Miske in the People's Police (CIP) and later was a major in the National People's Army (NVA ) of the German Democratic Republic. He was a member of ASK Vorwärts Berlin and Leipzig.
