Georg Moser

Georg Moser ( born June 10, 1923 in Leutkirch im Allgäu; † 9 May 1988 in Stuttgart) was Bishop of Rottenburg- Stuttgart.

Biography

Georg Moser was born the eighth of eleven children of the master blacksmith Alois Moser and his wife Maria, née Miller. After studying Catholic theology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and the Wilhelmstift he graduated from 1942 to 1947, he received on 19 March 1947, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He was subsequently to 1950 Vicar in Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart and from 1950 to 1953 Prefect of the episcopal boarding Josefinum in Ehingen (Donau), before he became chaplain in Tübingen. There he received his doctorate in 1962 with a dissertation on " Eschatology in the Catechetical instruction " as a doctor of theology. In 1961 he took over the leadership of the Catholic Academy in Stuttgart -Hohenheim.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 12 October 1970 Titular Bishop of Thiges and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Rottenburg. The bishop He was ordained on 14 November of the same year, together with Anton Herre by Bishop Carl Joseph Leiprecht in Stuttgart. On February 25, 1975, he was named Paul VI. successor Leiprechts as bishop of the Diocese of Rottenburg, which was renamed in 1978 in Rottenburg- Stuttgart.

As the responsible bishop, he tried to reconcile the differences between the resulting 1968 teaching at the University of Tubingen professor of theology Hans Küng and the Vatican, but succeeded only partially.
