Georg Streitberger

Georg dispute Berger ( born April 26, 1981 in Zell am See) is an Austrian alpine skier. His strongest discipline is the super -G. It was in the year 2000 junior world champion in giant slalom and won twice the super -G standings in the European Cup. In the World Cup he previously won two Super G races.

Biography

Armed Berger was born as the first of three children of Mr. and Mrs. Frieda and Georg Berger dispute. Especially at the instigation of his father, an avid skier, the boy was already at the age of four years, the first time on skis and denied six years, the first children's race. Even as a child, his parents enrolled him at the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski club, where they found good training conditions for the talent of her son. This was followed by first victories in children's and student races, including two Austrian students Championship titles in 1995 and 1996.

After the completion of elementary and secondary school in his hometown Maishofen the 15 -year-old dispute Berger moved to the Skihandelsschule Schladming, where he was gradually introduced to the Alpine squad of the Austrian Ski Federation ( Austrians ). He played his first FIS race in December 1996. Between 1997 and 1998 he won in his age group three Austrian Youth Champion title. In the European Cup of Salzburg was the first time in January at the 1998 race in Altenmarkt in use, then again only two years later. In the European Cup 2005/06 season he was again able to win with two wins and a further three podium finishes the super-G standings. Also on the descent he managed a win and a third place, which he finished in third place in the discipline standings, as well as in the overall standings. In the World Cup he remained in his five races without points. For the Austrian Championships, he finished second in the downhill behind Andreas Buder.

In the season 2006/07 dispute Berger was able to establish in the World Cup. He came to three super - G's in the top 10, reaching the tenth place in the Super- G World Cup. His best result was sixth place in Val Gardena. After the season the Salzburg rose to the national team from the A-team. In the 2007 /08 season dispute Berger drove in the first three months only twice in the top ten. For the third time he came on 1 March 2008 in the departure of Kvitfjell in the top 10. The following day he celebrated his first World Cup victory in the Super -G. The race was overshadowed by the heavy fall of his fellow countryman Matthias Lanzinger.
