Georg Thomalla

George Valentin Thomalla ( born February 14, 1915 in Katowice, † August 25, 1999 in Starnberg ) was a German actor and voice actor.

Profession

Thomalla first learned the profession of a chef, but then joined a traveling theater as an actor at. Later, he played in the 1930s at the theaters in Gelsenkirchen Gera and already found the way to his later master theaters as Boulevard actresses, the comedy and the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. After a few minor film roles during the Second World War, his career really began only after the war. It quickly became the "little man " popular, mainly through slapstick roles. He also continued to play theater in Berlin and was there from 1948 to 1956 Member of the cabaret comedian.

Earlier in his career he also sang. He has appeared in 1958 in the German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest on.

Thomalla remained throughout his life a comedian and could never prevail in character roles themselves. The beginning of television as a mass medium helped him finally to break through. His television series An Evening with Georg Thomalla counted the late 1960s, with the most popular programs of the German audience. He had great success with the incarnation of the title role in the television series Our Family Pathfinder, the 1965 and 1966 broadcast in the evening program of the ZDF in 20 episodes.

Although Thomalla participated in more than 120 films, his filmmaking is also connected to the synchronization of many Hollywood stars. He was the German voice of Jack Lemmon, Danny Kaye, Peter Sellers and Bob Hope. 1996 there was a meeting between Jack Lemmon and Thomalla, as Lemmon was awarded during the 1996 Berlinale with the Golden Honorary Bear for his life's work and Thomalla gave the eulogy for the occasion.

Private

Georg Thomalla has at times been romantically involved with fellow actress Germaine Damar. Since 1957 he was married to Margit Mayrl, a guesthouse owner from Bad Gastein ( Austria ). Georg Thomalla was the father of two sons. His last years spent Thomalla in Munich -Schwabing at the Hohenzollern court, also in Spain in Alicante and in the Austrian town of Bad Gastein, in whose cemetery he was buried. He became interested in religious issues and Far Eastern philosophy. Since the mid 1980s he was a member of ISKCON ( Hare Krishna movement ). Contrary to popular belief, repeated the actress Simone Thomalla is not related to him.

Voice Actors

Georg Thomalla something cant celled voice has been the hallmark of many actors in the German dubbed version. Thomalla synchronisiserte Peter Sellers in most films of the Inspector Clouseau series and Jack Lemmon in various films, including Some Like It Hot, The Odd Couple and extra leaf. He also was the German voice of the Wizard of Oz in The Wizard of Oz ( USA, 1939) and lent the cartoon character Jiminy Cricket in the Disney film Pinocchio 1940 published his voice. In 1969, he lent his voice to the animated film Animals United.
