Georg von Pasterwitz

Georg Pasterwi (t ) z, secular name Robert John Ivo ( born March 7, 1730 in Bierhütte at Hohenau; † 26 January 1803 in Kremsmuenster ), was an Austrian composer and a Catholic theologian.

Life

As the son of Johann Andreas Pasterwiz and Theresia nee More of Mohr and Sonnegg castle Pasterwitz began his training in Passau, then continued in Niederaltaich and since 1745 Kremsmünster. Then he took theology in Salzburg and studied also jus, mathematics and languages. He received lessons in composition among others by Johann Ernst Eberlin.

The first Mass took place on 24 June 1755 after which he served in various teaching careers in the pen works, but especially from 1767 to 1783 as choirmaster. After 1783, he served as pastor in churches book, until 1795 as a pin Hofmeister in Vienna, then as Dean of the high schools as well as from 1801 to 1803 as a Conventual.

Although he published also in other areas, he especially as a composer of sacred and chamber music as well as a whole series of musical comedies for the theater pin has emerged, partly written in libretti of his brother and successor Beda Plank in Upper Austrian dialect.
