George Albert Hammes

George Albert Hammes ( born September 11, 1911 in St. Joseph 's Ridge, USA; † 11 April 1993) was Bishop of Superior.

Life

George Albert Hammes received on 22 May 1937, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On March 23, 1960, he was named by Pope John XXIII. Bishop of Superior. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Egidio Vagnozzi, donated to him on 24 May of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of La Crosse, John Patrick Treacy, and the Bishop of Madison, William Patrick O'Connor.

On June 27, 1985 George Albert Hammes resigned as Bishop of Superior.
