George Alogoskoufis

Georgios Alogoskoufis (Greek Γεώργιος Αλογοσκούφης, George Alogoskoufis; born October 17, 1955 in Athens ) is a Greek economist and politician of the New Democracy

Algoskoufis studied at the London School of Economics, where he received his doctorate in 1981. From 1984 to 1992 he taught at the University of London ( Birkbeck College). Since 1990 he is professor at the Economic University of Athens.

Alogoskoufis was 1996-2009 Member of the Greek Parliament. In 2004, when Kostas Karamanlis was elected Prime Minister of Greece, he called Alogoskoufis Minister of Economy and Finance, a post that he accompanied until January 2009.

He is married with Dika Agapitidou and the couple have three children.
