George and Rosemary

George and Rosemary is a Canadian animated short film directed by David Fine and Alice Snowden from the year 1987.

Action

Pensioners George lives alone. He is in love with living in the house opposite, Rosemary, for which he spent hours sitting on his porch. In addition, he observed them every now and then through a pair of binoculars, sees at night over at her before she turns off the light, and sleeps otherwise one alone.

One morning, he decides that he will appeal it today. He pulls on a fresh shirt and stockings of the same color and picks flowers in his garden. When he wants to register by phone, but he brings out a word. He pulls himself together and just want to cross the street when Rosemary visit from her son and numerous grandchildren receives. It takes time for the visit goes again, but it is George now seriously. With its already hanging flower he ventures up to Rosemary's door and rings the bell. When he begins to stammer at Rosemary's sight, she pulls him quickly but wordlessly into the apartment. It turns out that she has even seen him yet excessive. She puts on music, covers the fishbowl, and both dancing late into the night. A little later George moved to Rosemary and they both live happily ever after together.

Awards

George and Rosemary has received numerous international awards, including a 1988 Genie for Best Short Film in 1987 and the Jury Award as Best Short Film at the Montreal World Film Festival.

The film was nominated for a 1988 Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ", but could not prevail against the man who planted trees themselves.
