George Athor

George Athor Deng Dut (* 1962 in Khorfulus County, Jonglei, then Sudan, † 19 December, 2011 Morobo near Juba ) was a politician, commander of the SPLA and rebel leader in South Sudan.

George Athor was (also White Nile Dinka ) born in the territory Khorfulus ( Grand County ) in the north of the state of Jonglei as Padang - Dinka. He failed in April 2010 as an independent candidate in the gubernatorial elections in his state. He threw since the SPLA electoral fraud and corruption before and led a rebellion against the SPLA provided by the Government of South Sudan. He received support from various ethnic groups who feel disadvantaged by the SPLA.
