George B. Seitz

George Brackett Seitz ( born January 3, 1888 in Boston, Massachusetts, † July 8, 1944 in Hollywood, California ) was an American film director and screenwriter.

Life

George Seitz began his career as a playwright, illustrator and stage actor and came in 1913 in the fledgling film industry to Hollywood. He started at Pathé first as an actor and screenwriter. For Pathé he developed from 1914 series of adventure films with the actress Pearl White in the lead roles. The genre of adventure and action film, he remained faithful as a director. In 1925 he turned to the Western Among the horse thieves Arizona's his first feature film. The film starred Jack Holt and Noah Beery. With the introduction of sound film to his repertoire to romantic comedies and crime films expanded. Among his greatest successes in the 1930s and 1940s include the films of Andy Hardy series with Mickey Rooney in the title role. The cinematographer John F. Seitz was his brother.
