George Bacovia

Bacovia George ( real name George Andone Vasiliu; * 5.jul / September 17 1881greg in Bacau, .. † May 22, 1957 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian poet.

Life

Bacovia was born as George Andone Vasiliu in Bacau. He was the son of the merchant Dimitrie Vasiliu. Already during his school years showed Bacovia his artistic talent. He wrote poems, showed good performance on the violin and other instruments and showed great talent for drawing. For his draftsmanship, he received in 1899 the first prize in the national competition " Tinerimii române for" artistic nature drawings. After high school, he began studying law in Bucharest. This he finished in 1911.

In the magazine Literatorul he published his first poem Şi toate ( And all ) lived under the name of George V. From 1925 to the ailing and plagued by depression poet temporarily in Bucharest. With 47 years he married the teacher Agatha Grigorescu. With her he had a son. In 1933 the family moved permanently to Bucharest. There Bacovia died in 1957. Bacovia Bacau University George in his native city bears his name. In his birthplace, a memorial has been established.
