George Baer, Jr.

George Baer Jr. ( * 1763 in Frederick, Maryland, † April 3, 1834 ) was an American politician. Between 1797 and 1801, and again from 1815 to 1817, he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George Baer attended the common schools and worked in the trade. At the same time he proposed a political career as a supporter of the federal government under President George Washington. End of the 1790s he joined, founded by Alexander Hamilton Federalist Party. In 1794 he sat in the House of Representatives of Maryland. In the congressional elections of 1796 Baer was selected in the fourth electoral district of his state in the then still meets on Philadelphia U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of Sprigg Thomas on March 4, 1797. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1801 two legislative sessions. Between 1809 and 1809 George Baer was again a member of parliament of Maryland; in 1813, he served as a judge at the court of guardianship for orphans in Frederick County. In the elections of 1814 Baer was re-elected in the fourth district of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he Samuel Ringgold replaced on March 4, 1815. Until March 3, 1817, he could spend another term in Congress. After his final departure from this body he again worked in retail. In 1820 he was mayor of the city of Frederick. There he is on the April 3, 1834 and passed away.
