George Bagby (author)
Aaron Marc Stein (* November 15, 1906, † 29 August 1985) was an American author who wrote numerous detective novels.
Work
His most famous character is the New York inspector Schmitty, about which he wrote more than 50 novels under the pseudonym George Bagby. Other series developed around the forensic archaeological investigator Tim Mulligan and Elsie Mae Hunt and the engineer Matt Herridge. From Herridge series comes Sitting Up Dead, in the Tombs underwent a free filming in the television series 77 Sunset Strip under the title A Bargain.
1979 Stone received the Edgar Award.
