George Beverly Shea

George Beverly Shea ( born 1 February 1909 in Winchester, Ontario, † April 16, 2013 ) was a Canadian gospel singer, composer and Grammy - award winner.

Life

Shea was born the son of a Methodist pastor in Canada. Even as a child he was in the church choir his father's active later during his education at Houghton College Glee Club in his school. In 1943 he was invited as a singer of the evangelical American revival preacher Billy Graham in his radio show to Chicago. Henceforth, Shea was an integral part of evangelism events of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and belonged to the narrowest since the staff of Billy Graham. Shea was one among others to the group of employees in the area of Billy Graham that a voluntary code of conduct imposed itself as the basis of their missionary activity, called the Modesto Manifesto. As a singer he gave concerts worldwide, was inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame in 1978 and won a Grammy Award.
