George Chalmers (antiquarian)

George Chalmers (* 1742 in Fochabers, Scotland, † May 31 1825 in London ) was an English political writer.

Life

Chalmers studied in Celtic and Edinburgh jurisprudence. Then he emigrated to America, where he worked as a lawyer for about a year in Baltimore. At the outbreak of the War of Independence (1776 ), he returned to England and was employed by the Department of Commerce.

He published numerous works on the political situation in the U.S. and in the UK.
