Persons and action
George Dandin is a rich farmer. He has assigned Mr. and Mrs. de Sotenville, an impoverished pair of provincial gentry, his fortune, married her daughter Angélique and earned a title of nobility, he is now called " Monsieur de la Dandinière ". The wedding was, however, against the will of Angélique; she feels her husband in any way committed and is willing to be seduced by the courtier Clitandre. George Dandin tried to react to this, but his aristocratic in-laws can not be impressed by his accusations and make a joke of it, to humiliate repeats the civil moderately inferior son. Angélique is supported by her servant Claudine. The farmer Lubin is admirer of Claudine and officiates as a coupler of Clitandre.
Although the piece in the original is touted as a " comedy", there is no happy ending. George Dandin is constantly guided both by the representatives of the nobility and servants of Hoodwinked, where his wife lay, her lover and her servant a sadistic behavior on the day.
George Dandin, marked by loneliness and delivered a tragic fate, said in his final monologue of suicide: "If you, like I did married a wicked woman, the best thing you can do is to plunge into the water head first. "
