George Dixon (Boxer)

George Dixon ( born July 29, 1870 in Halifax, Nova Scotia; † January 6, 1908 in New York) was a Canadian bantamweight and featherweight boxer and the first black to win a championship belt.

He gave himself the name Little Chocolate fight, but has often been called "Boxer without any weakness " ( The fighter without a flaw ) refers. The number of his fights is estimated by historians at 600-800, officially only 153 were registered.

On March 31, 1890, he was the first official black world champion and held the featherweight title with a brief interruption from 1891 to 1900 when he lost it to Terry McGovern.

1990 was Dixon induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
