George Douglas, 1st Earl of Angus

George Douglas 1st Earl of Angus (c. 1378; † September 1402 ) was a Scottish nobleman.

Life

George was a son of William Douglas, 1st Earl of Douglas, from his association with Margaret, daughter of Thomas Stewart, Earl of Angus. He received the title of Earl of Angus 1389th George fought in the Battle of Homildon Hill on September 14, 1402 where he was taken in English captivity and died in the same year in England at the bubonic plague.

George Douglas was the founder of the Red line of the Douglas family while Archibald Douglas, 3rd Earl of Douglas, is regarded as the progenitor of the black line.
