George Draga

George Draga ( born April 26, 1935 in Aldesti, Arad County, † October 3, 2008 in Braşov, Braşov county ) was a Romanian composer.

Draga studied from 1946 to 1954 at the Academy of Military Music with Hans Hörath and Dumitru Văsescu ( clarinet), Alexandru Teodorescu and George Manoliu (violin), Constantin A. Ionescu ( music theory and solfege ), Anastasie Danu (harmony ) and Ion Totan ( Orchestration ). At the Conservatory of Bucharest, he was from 1957 to 1963 pupils of Victor Iuşceanu (theory and solfeggio ), Ion Dumitrescu (harmony ), Nicolae Buicliu ( counterpoint), Anatol Vieru (composition and orchestration ), Alexandru Pascanu (Instrumental Theory ), Tudor Ciortea (musical form), Zeno Vancea (music history), Tiberiu Alexandru and Emilia Comişel ( folklore ), Dumitru D. Botez ( choral conducting ) and Madeleine Cocorăscu (Piano Accompaniment ).

From 1963 to 1993 he worked for the magazine of the Romanian Composers Union Musica, where he among other things, Analyzes of works by Aurel Stroe, Ştefan Niculescu, Tiberiu Olah, Wilhelm Berger, Cornel Ţăranu and Zeno Vancea published. He also held in various cities of Romania music lectures. From 1993 to 1998 he was the Museo graph at the George Enescu Museum in Bucharest.

Drage next fourteen symphonies composed several concertos and other symphonic works, chamber music, cantatas and other choral works and songs.
