George Dudley (art director)

George Stevens Dudley ( born May 8, 1897 in Detroit, Michigan, † June 5, 1959 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American art director and production designer, who was nominated for the Academy Awards in 1940 for the Academy Award for Best Production Design.

Life

Dudley began his career as an art director and production designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1939 at the Western Jesse James, man without law of Henry King with Tyrone Power in the title role, as well as Henry Fonda and Randolph Scott in other major roles. He worked until 1945 at the facilities of a total of fourteen films.

At the Academy Awards in 1940, he was nominated along with William S. Darling for the Academy Award for Best Production Design, and indeed for the adventure film The Rains Came (1939 ), directed by Clarence Brown with Tyrone Power, Myrna Loy and George Brent.
