George Eaton

George Eaton ( born November 12, 1945 in Toronto ) is a former Canadian race car driver.

George Eaton was born into the wealthy Canadian family of entrepreneurs Eaton's. After his racing career, Eaton had ten years of department store chain in front of the family as CEO.

His first race denied Eaton on a McLaren M1C and an AC Cobra. In 1967 he went into the North American CanAm racing series. His best finish was third place during the rainy race at Laguna Seca.

End of the 1960s, Eaton acquired two new race cars, a McLaren M12 for the CanAm series and a McLaren M10, a single-seater, which he used in the formula A. His strong performances brought him into Formula 1 in late 1969 drove Eaton the Grand Prix of the United States and Mexico for BRM.

1970 got the Canadians a work contract with BRM and headed for the British team in both the Formula 1 and in the CanAm series with the new BRM P54. The year was totally disappointing. The P54 was not mature and the BRM P153 he could not achieve a championship point in Formula 1 World Championship.

Eaton drove 1971 nor the Canadian Grand Prix for BRM, then the Formula 1 career was over. This was followed by sports car racing; for Ferrari he drove at Le Mans and Sebring. But great successes in motorsport remained from Eaton and so he left the end of 1972 the racing scene and took over responsibilities in the family group.
