George Forsyth

George Patrick Forsyth Sommer ( born June 20, 1982 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a Peruvian goalkeeper and currently plays for Alianza Lima in Peru. In addition to the Peruvian citizenship Forsyth also has a German and Venezuelan passport. He is the son of a German mother and a Peruvian diplomat, which is also the birthplace of Caracas declares. In addition, he also has Scottish roots.

Club career

In the 2002/2003 season he played after his move from Alianza Lima for the second team of Borussia Dortmund and was third goalkeeper of Borussia Dortmund ( behind Jens Lehmann and Roman Weidenfeller ).

With Alianza Lima he already won two Peruvian Championships (2004 and 2006) and was elected in 2006 also the best goalie in Peru.

After these successes, the interest from foreign clubs was again greater at him. In the summer of 2007 he signed a three -year contract with Italian Serie A club Atalanta. There, however, he could not prevail against the loaned from AC Milan Ferdinando Coppola himself. One reason was an injury which put him out of action from September to November. After a year he returned to Alianza Lima.

National team career

Forsyth was the beginning of 2007 nominier for the Peruvian national football team. He made his debut on 24 March 2007 friendly against Japan, when he came on after half-time for Juan Ángel Flores. He was also in the squad of Peru in the Copa America 2007. Since 2008, he is no longer being nominated.
