George Gilbert Hoskins

George Gilbert Hoskins ( born December 24, 1824 in Bennington, Wyoming County, New York, † June 12, 1893 in Attica, New York ) was an American politician of the Republican Party. He represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives and was its vice- governor.

After completing his education, George Hoskins initially proposed a career as a merchant. For many years he also acted in his hometown of Bennington as Town Clerk ( Town Clerk ), as postmaster and as a justice of the peace.

His political career began in 1860 with the election to the New York State Assembly, the lower house of the state parliament. This he belonged from 1865 to 1866 at again in 1865 he was going to the Speaker of the Chamber. After a move to Attica he was there from 1868 to 1870 Head of the municipal accounting ( Commissioner of public accounts ). On 1 May 1871 he was appointed head of the tax authority in the 29th District of New York.

From 1873 to 1877 Hoskins sat in the House of Representatives in Washington.
