George H. Brickner

George H. Brickner ( born January 21, 1834 in Ansbach, Bavaria, † August 12, 1904 in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin ) was an American politician of German origin. Between 1889 and 1895 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1840, George Brickner emigrated with his parents to the United States. The family first settled in Seneca County, Ohio, where he attended the public schools. He then worked from 1850 to 1855 in Tiffin commercially. This work he continued after his move in 1855 took place in his new hometown of Cascade (Wisconsin ). He also operated a flour mill until 1868. Then he dealt in Sheboygan Falls with the production of woolen fabrics. In 1889, he founded a glass factory in Tiffin.

Politically, Brickner member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1888 he was in the fifth electoral district of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Thomas R. Hudd on March 4, 1889. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1895 three legislative periods. Between 1891 and 1893 he was chairman of the committee responsible for supervising the expenditure of the Ministry of Finance.

In 1894, Brickner gave up another candidacy. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives, he withdrew into retirement, which he spent in Sheboygan Falls. There he is on August 12, 1904 and passed away.
