George Hill (basketball)

George Jesse Hill, Jr. ( born May 4, 1986 in Indianapolis, Indiana ) is an American professional basketball player. He is a point guard / shooting guard for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA.

Although George Hill received offers from major universities such as Florida, Temple or Indiana, he decided on the Indiana University -Purdue University Indianapolis ( IUPUI ) to so stay with his sick grandfather Gilbert Edison can. A few months later, his great-grandfather died without seeing his grandson ever play college basketball.

In his sophomore year, Hill led the IUPUI Jaguars to the best record in the Summit League. After he had to suspend most of its third season with the Jaguars due to injury, he led the Jaguars in 2007/ 08 to a school record of 26 wins and in the Summit League tournament final, where they lost to Oral Roberts University.

George Hill left IUPUI as the fifth- best point scorer in school history (1619 points).

On June 26, 2008 Hill was selected in 26th place by the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Draft 2008. He was only the second player from the Summit League ( and first of its colleges ), which was drawn in the first round Draft. This was a surprise, since Hill was considered by many experts rather than second-round pick. On 23 September 2008, he signed a rookie contract standard (two guaranteed years and a team option for two more seasons ) at Spurs.

After Hill the first two games of the 2008/09 season due to injury had to cancel, he denied on November 5 against the Dallas Mavericks be NBA debut. In 15 minutes, he scored 11 points each and an assist and steal.

June 2011 Hill was transferred as part of a trade from the Spurs to the Indiana Pacers.
