George Island

George Iceland (Spanish: Isla Jorge ) is one of the Falkland Islands. It is located south of Speedwell Iceland and northeast of Barren Iceland. The island is flat and has several ponds on.

On George Iceland, there is a farm. Most of the island is used as a sheep pasture. It is known for its colonies of Magellanic penguin. There are also important their holdings of giant petrels, Falkland wrens, dark shearwaters, mono - shore Wippern, Falkland Steamer ducks and Rotkopfgänsen. Together with the other islands of the Speedwell group it will be listed by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area ( FK16 ).
