George Jamesone

George Jamesone (* February 18, 1587 or 1588 in Aberdeen, † before December 11, 1644 in Edinburgh ) was a Scottish portrait and miniature painter.

Jamesone ( pron. dschehms'n ), especially painted portraits, which are characterized by vivid conception and diligent implementation, besides also landscapes and histories, some in oil, some miniature.

The magistrates of Edinburgh had painted of him a number of Scottish kings, as Charles I visited Scotland in 1633. In Scotland, many stately homes with family pictures of Jamesone are decorated.
