George Jones (publisher)

George Jones (* August 16, 1811; † August 12, 1891 ) was an American journalist and published together with Henry Jarvis Raymond co-founder of the New-York Daily Times, today's New York Times, whose first issue on September 18, 1851 is.

Before founding the New York Times was Jones banker in Albany ( New York). With the death of Henry Jarvis Raymond in 1869, he became the sole publisher. Jones was interred at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
