George L. Walton

George L. Walton was an American politician. Between 1881 and 1884 he was appointed acting lieutenant governor of the state of Louisiana.

Career

The Life-history of George Walton are not known. Between 1864 and 1865 he served in the final stages of the civil war in an infantry unit from Louisiana. Politically he belonged first to the Democratic Party. Between 1880 and 1884 he sat in the Senate from Louisiana. At that time he lived in Concordia Parish.

After the death of Governor Louis A. Wiltz his deputy Samuel D. McEnery took office. According to the state constitution now moved the President Pro Tempore of the State Senate, WA Robertson, on as Acting Lieutenant Governor. This post he held between 16 October and 24 December 1881.
