George Magan, Baron Magan of Castletown

George Morgan Magan, Baron Magan of Castletown ( born November 14, 1945 in Delhi ) is a Conservative politician and member of the House of Lords. He comes from a Anglo-Irish family and is the son of Brigadier Bill Magan, the director of MI5 was. He went to Winchester College and then became an accountant.

Since 2003, Magan treasurer of the Conservative party was Treasurer, he is currently Vice Chairman of the Conservative Foundation. The Sunday Times Rich List estimated his fortune at £ 60 million conservatively. It was reported that he deserved alone 20 million in the 1995 takeover of Hambro Magan by Natwest Markets. At the height of the bull he was allegedly 200 million heavy.

Magan was a founder of Hambro Magan and is now a minority shareholder of the private equity firm Rhone Group. He is a director of a number of other companies that are active in the investment banking and private equity business. He is also a member of numerous international supervisory boards.

He was involved in the establishment of a foundation for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and from 1996 to 2001 he was a trustee of the Royal Opera House.

House of Lords

On 25 January 2011 he was raised as Baron Magan of Castletown for Life Peer and was introduced where he sits as a Conservative in the House of Lords on 27 January.
