George Mason University
The George Mason University ( GMU or Mason also called ) is a public university in the suburbs of Washington DC in the area of the U.S. state of Virginia, based in Fairfax. To the university include locations in Arlington, Fairfax County and Prince William County. With 30,714 students, it is the largest university in Virginia before the Virginia Commonwealth University.
History
Founded in 1957 as a campus of the University of Virginia, George Mason University in 1972 became independent. The university is named after George Mason, the Father of the Bill of Rights.
Sports
The sports teams of the GMU are the Patriots. The university is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association.
