George R. Andrews

George Rex Andrews ( born September 21, 1808 in Ticonderoga, New York, † December 5, 1873 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1849 and 1851 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George Rex Andrews was born about four years before the outbreak of the British - American War in Ticonderoga in Essex County and grew up there. During this time he attended community schools and graduated from the Albany Law School. His admission to the bar he received in 1836 and then began to practice in Ticonderoga. Politically he belonged to the Whig party. In the congressional elections of 1848 for the 31 Congress he was in the 14th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Orlando Kellogg on March 4, 1849. He retired after March 3, 1851 from the Congress. In 1852 he moved to Oshkosh, where he pursued lumber stores. He died there on December 5, 1873, was buried at the Riverside Cemetery.
