George Scholes

George Francis Scholes (born 24 November 1928 Toronto, Ontario, † 18 November 2004 in Mississauga, Ontario ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player.

Career

George Scholes began his career as a hockey player with the St. Michael's Buzzers, for which he was active from 1943 to 1946. He spent the following two years with the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Junior Hockey Association. From 1948 to 1951 he played for the Quebec Aces of the Quebec Senior Hockey League, before he ran aground 1951-1953 for the Moncton Hawks of the Maritime Major Hockey League. He then moved to the Kitchener -Waterloo Dutchmen, with whom he won the 1955 Allan Cup, the Canadian Amateur Championship. With the Dutchmen he represented also Canada at the Olympic Winter Games 1956. Having spent the season in 1957/58 at the Kitchener -Waterloo Dutchmen, he played one year for the Windsor Bulldogs, before he ended his career at the age of 30 years.

Internationally

For Canada Scholes took part in the Winter Olympics 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo, where he won the bronze medal with his team.
