George Sidney

George Sidney ( born October 4, 1916 in Long Iceland, † 5 May 2002 Las Vegas ) was an American film director and producer. He was from 1951 to 1959 and from 1961 to 1967 the President of the Directors Guild of America.

He came from a family of actors. His uncle George Sidney and his three wives Lillian Burns, Jane Adler and Corinne Cole was also an actor.

Among his most famous works include vacation in Hollywood (1945, with Frank Sinatra ), The Three Musketeers (1948, with Gene Kelly) and Great nights in Las Vegas (1964, with Elvis Presley ). In 1958 he was awarded the Golden Globe for Best World Entertainment Through Musical Films category.

Sidney died of cancer.
