George Smith (Pennsylvania)

George Smith was an American politician. Between 1809 and 1813 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Neither the birth nor the date of death of George Smith are preserved; the same applies to his birth and of death. Also about his education and career nothing is known. Politically, he was a member of the late 1790s, founded by later U.S. President Thomas Jefferson Democratic- Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 1808, Smith was in the fifth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Daniel Montgomery on March 4, 1809. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1813 two legislative sessions. These were shaped by the events of the British -American War since 1812.
