George Spencer-Churchill, 8th Duke of Marlborough

George Charles Spencer-Churchill, 8th Duke of Marlborough (* May 13, 1844; † November 9, 1892 in Blenheim Palace ) was a British nobleman. From 1883 to 1892 he held the title of Duke of Marlborough.

Family

George Charles Spencer-Churchill was the eldest son of John Spencer - Churchill, 7th Duke of Marlborough, and the older brother of the British statesman Lord Randolph Churchill, the father of Sir Winston Churchill. On 8 November 1869 he married Lady Albertha Frances Anne Hamilton, a daughter of James Hamilton, 1st Duke of Abercorn, in the Palace of Westminster. The marriage was annulled on 20 November 1883. On June 29, 1888, he married at City Hall in New York Lillian Warren Price in second marriage. The wedding ceremony was performed by the New York City Mayor Abram S. Hewitt. The couple had no children.

Life

From 1857 to 1860 attended Spencer-Churchill Eton College. Later, he joined the British Army, where he rose to lieutenant in 1863 to the Royal Horse Guards. He had gas, electricity and central heating at Blenheim Palace install. He died at the age of 48 years.
