George W. Ahr

George William Ahr ( born June 23, 1904 in Newark, New Jersey, USA, † May 5, 1993 ) was Bishop of Trenton.

Life

George William Ahr received on 29 July 1928, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On January 28, 1950, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Bishop of Trenton. The Archbishop of Newark, Thomas Joseph Walsh, donated to him on March 20th of that year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Paterson, Thomas Aloysius Boland, and the Bishop of Camden, Joseph Bartholomew Eustace.

On June 23, 1979 Pope John Paul II accepted the argument put forward by George William Ahr resignation for reasons of age.
