George White (film editor)

George White ( born August 20, 1911 in Los Angeles, California, † 15 February 1998 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was an American editor who was once nominated for an Oscar for Best Editing.

Life

White began his career as an editor in the film industry in Hollywood in 1936 by Reginald Le Borg staged the short film No Place Like Rome with Frank Albertson and Suzanne Kaaren. During his career lasted until 1967, he contributed to the production of nearly sixty films.

At the Academy Awards in 1948 White was for the Oscar for Best Editing for the directed by Victor Saville Drama typhoon ( Grand Dolphin Street, 1947) with Lana Turner, Richard Hart and Van Heflin nominated.

As a film director, he staged in 1957 with Phil Victor the Mystery Movie My Gun Is Quick, where Robert Bray, Whitney Blake and Patricia Donahue played the lead roles.

His daughter is actress Denise Winsor, whose children has worked as art director and production designer Holly Winsor and Christopher Winsor also as an actor. His great-nephew Joshua Brian Pierce worked in the film industry, as a production assistant.
