George William, Prince of Schaumburg-Lippe

Georg Wilhelm of Schaumburg -Lippe ( born December 20 1784 in Biickeburg, † November 21, 1860 in Biickeburg ) was from 1787 - initially under the regency of his mother - to 1807 Count of Schaumburg -Lippe, and subsequently after his accession to the Confederation of the Rhine First Prince of Schaumburg -Lippe.

Life

He was the son of Count Philip II (1723-1787) and his second wife Princess Juliane of Hesse- Philippsthal (1761-1799), a daughter of the Landgrave William of Hesse - Philippsthal and Princess Ulrike Eleonore of Hesse- Philippsthal - Barchfeld.

1816 Georg Wilhelm issued a first feudal constitution, in 1854 joined his country at the Prussian customs territory. 1848, Georg Wilhelm build the tower at Wölpinghausen.

In 1816, George William married in Arolsen Princess Ida Karoline Luise of Waldeck -Pyrmont ( 1796-1869 ), a daughter of Prince Georg of Waldeck -Pyrmont and Princess Augusta of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen. From the marriage, which by all accounts was harmonious, went nine children were born:
