George Winston

George Winston ( born August 1949 in Michigan) is an American pianist, composer and arranger.

George Winston grew up in Montana, Mississippi and Florida. In his youth he heard mainly instrumental pop ( Floyd Cramer, The Ventures, Booker T. & the MG's, King Curtis ) and Rhythm & Blues ( Ray Charles, Sam Cooke ).

Winston began in 1967 organ and electric piano to play before 1971 he moved to the piano. He composed his own pieces and arranged the music of other composers (such as by John Barry ). Strongly influenced by the style he was Vince Guaraldis, who wrote the music for Peanuts. Winston Guaraldi arranged for the soundtrack to This Is America, Charlie Brown: The Birth of a Constitution and dedicated to him in 1996 the album Linus & Lucy - The Music of Vince Guaraldi.

More than a third of the year spends George Winston on tour in America, Europe and Asia. In addition, he studied the style of music by composers such as Henry Butler, James Booker, Dr. John and Professor Longhair. He also arranged the music of Professor Longhair, The Doors, Frank Zappa, Vince Guaraldi, Randy Newman, Al Kooper, Philip Aaberg, Duke Ellington, Henry Butler, James Booker, Dr. John and many more for future concerts and recordings.

Winston sold over eleven million albums in 24 years. 1995 Winston won a Grammy for the album Forest.
