George Young (rock musician)

George Young ( born November 6, 1948 in Glasgow, Scotland) is an Australian rock musician, guitarist, songwriter and producer. Young's younger brothers Malcolm and Angus are members of the rock band AC / DC.

In the early 1960s the family emigrated Young from Scotland to Australia. In Sydney George Young was a member of the most successful Australian band of the 1960s, The Easybeats. George Young wrote initially along with Stevie Wright, Harry Vanda later, most of the songs the group, including the worldwide hit Friday on My Mind.

End of 1966, the Easybeats went to London. In 1969, the band broke up. Vanda and Young remained as a songwriter and producer active, inter alia, for John Paul Young ( Love Is in the Air ), Def Leppard (High N ' Dry) and especially for AC / DC.

Vanda and Young together founded the band project Flash & the Pan, which had several hits. After 1986, the Easybeats were part of the revival boom again.
